Mary's House Hotel is on great foot exploring distance of the historic riches of Selçuk. 10-15 minutes pleasant walk through quiet residential streets will take you to most of the town's historical spots. Among them, there are magnificent ruins of the Basilica of St. John, which are believed to be the final resting place of this apostle, and the impressive Isa Bey Mosque with its beautiful examples of Seljuk Turkish architecture. From the basilica, you can also hike up the hill to Ayasuluk Fortress for panoramic scenes of the entire area.

The heart of Selçuk is only a ten-minute walk. At this locality are the central square, a number of great yet amazingly cheap traditional Turkish food eateries, and souvenir and daily-need-shops. It is incredibly easy to plan your onward travel or day trips because both the Selçuk bus station (otogar) and the train station are within this central area. Also a must visit is the Ephesus Archaeological Museum, world’s best by containing most of the priceless treasures excavated from the ancient city.

The hotel is very easy to reach, located close to the main road, on which, one can walk a little distance and avail oneself of a frequent and very cheap ‘dolmuş’ to ferry one directly to the entrance of the archeological site in just a few minutes. This coupled with sojourn in a quiet rural atmosphere and yet without any such inconvenience in matters of conveyance or visiting the places of interest nearby is really ideal.
